Charlie is a Shih Tzu x Yorkshire Terrier and is just under 3 years old. He was booked into the vets to be put to sleep when his relationship with his previous owners broke down. Thankfully another rescue reached out and asked if we could help with rehabilitation for Charlie as he was still a young lad and he had found his owners' environment extremely stressful. It was very clear from the start that Charlie was not used to being walked or being on a lead and was quite reactive to the outside world. After building up his confidence he now thoroughly enjoys his walks and loves to explore with his nose and is a very keen tracker. Charlie is looking for a home that will understand that he can find strangers scary, he is wary of men and does take longer to feel at ease with them. Charlie gets on well with other dogs but can still be a bit apprehensive with bigger dogs so a home with a well adjusted dog would be a bonus. He has become a firm favourite with the rescue team, he is very much a full on terrier with boundless energy and never fails to make you laugh at his antics. He loves to show off all his toys and takes very good care of his favourite ones (squeaky pig and squeaky pea!). Charlie will gain more confidence with the right home and person, he has come on so much since he has been with us. However he does need an understanding owner that will give him the time and patience to flourish. Also, any potential adopters must be willing to visit Charlie at least twice a week until they get to know him and until he is happy and comfortable with them.
